I.C.T THT odd form insertion machine

The I.C.T Odd Form Insertion Machine is designed for THT and DIP production lines that need automatic insertion of irregular components. It can handle connectors, switches, sockets, transformers, coils, ports, capacitors, resistors, ICs, RAM, and other special-shaped parts. The machine uses modular design, intelligent operation interface, component library management, embedded feeder design, polarity identification, pressure sensing, and software data management. Compared with manual insertion, it helps reduce labor work, avoid reverse insertion, improve insertion consistency, and support higher production efficiency. The OFM series includes OFM-4 and OFM-6 models, with 4 or 6 insertion heads for different production capacity needs.

Placement System

Placement System

The placement system is the core part of this Odd Form Insertion Machine. It uses a high-speed head, ball screw structure, angle rotary motor, and closed-loop inserting height control to support accurate component insertion. The in-line high-precision camera and algorithm system can identify different component shapes before insertion, helping the machine handle more complex parts in real production. I.C.T also uses a pressure control system during the Z-axis inserting process. This helps the machine identify pin status and control the effective insertion height more safely. For special components, the moving part and nozzle can be customized based on the Customer’s actual component type.

Driver System And Feeding System

The driver system uses casting parts to keep the machine stable during high-speed movement. The XY axis adopts servo motors and high-level ball screws, which help improve insertion accuracy and long-term running stability. High-quality moving parts support continuous production and reduce vibration during operation. The feeding system uses a stable feeder bank, and double-side feeder bank is optional for higher feeding capacity. The fast plug-in interface makes feeder installation easier, while the guide groove design helps maintain feeding precision. This Advanced Odd Form Insertion Machine can support axial tape, radial tape, radial tape 90°, tube, bowl, and tray feeders, giving factories more flexibility for mixed component production.

Transmission System And Bending System

The transmission system uses a three-stage conveyor design to reduce PCB input and output time. A high-precision PCB support table helps keep the board stable during insertion, while the side clamp and top clamp system hold the PCBA firmly. This is important because odd-form parts may require insertion force, and board movement can affect insertion quality. The optional bending system can form leads after insertion according to process needs. It supports outward bending, inner bending, circular angle bending, and 2-turn bending. Although the bending function may reduce machine working efficiency, it can help prevent loose components and support more stable downstream soldering quality.

The machine can support NG component drop detection, security grating, fan outlet prevention, simple operating interface, teaching box, aviation plug, and servo motor design. In early December, an I.C.T Customer from Hungary visited our factory for the machine acceptance of their customized fully automatic THT insertion line. This project was designed for automated through-hole PCB assembly and included an Odd Form Insertion Machine, I.C.T-Acrab Wave Soldering Machine, and DIP AOI inspection machine. During the factory acceptance process, I.C.T engineers tested the machine connection, component insertion performance, wave soldering process, inspection function, and overall line operation.
