A Complete LED Strip Solution with On-Site Installation and Training

I.C.T LED Strip Production line in Italy 01.jpg

In September 2026, I.C.T provided on-site installation and training for an LED strip manufacturing project in Italy. The Customer had purchased a complete SMT production line and a vacuum reflow oven. To support the equipment handover, I.C.T sent an engineer to the factory to assist with line installation, product setup, and hands-on training for the Customer’s technical team.

The visit brought the equipment and the people operating it together. Working with the Customer’s actual boards and materials, the engineer helped establish the production workflow and guided the team through printing, placement, soldering, and LED strip assembly. Training continued through product trials, giving the engineers opportunities to practice and ask questions at each stage.

Customer Background

The Customer manufactures flexible LED strips and needed a production solution covering both SMT assembly and the processes that follow it. The project also involved long PCBs, so the machines needed to be set up for the Customer’s board dimensions and handling requirements.

For this Customer, equipment installation was only one part of getting production ready. The team also needed to prepare printing and placement programs, understand how the machines worked together, and learn the operating steps for the strip assembly equipment.

I.C.T’s on-site service addressed these needs as a connected project. The engineer worked alongside the Customer’s engineers, introducing each production stage and then helping them apply what they had learned to their own products.

A Customized Production Solution for Flexible LED Strips

SMT Production Line

The SMT line covered PCB loading, solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, and unloading. Its setup included production programs and board handling adjustments for the Customer’s long-board products.

The equipment formed a practical workflow from the first board entering the line to the assembled PCB leaving the soldering process. During commissioning, I.C.T checked the connections between machines and helped the team understand how to prepare the line for different products.

Vacuum Reflow and Supporting Equipment

The Customer also purchased a vacuum reflow oven, which received equipment checks and process support during the visit. The engineer worked with the team to develop settings for the actual LED products and review soldering results through production trials.

A pneumatic stencil cleaning machine supported the printing process. Training covered its operation and routine care, helping the team include stencil cleaning in its daily production preparation.

LED Strip Assembly Equipment

The solution extended beyond SMT to include strip cutting, soldering, adhesive tape application, and winding equipment. These machines supported the steps needed to turn assembled LED boards into strip products.

Training followed this production sequence so the Customer’s engineers could see how each machine contributed to the overall workflow. The engineer also explained the tooling and material preparation needed for the Customer’s strip dimensions.

Preparing and Connecting the Equipment

After arriving at the factory, the I.C.T engineer began with equipment inspection, positioning, and leveling. The layout was adjusted with the Customer to suit the planned production arrangement. Power and communication connections were then completed, followed by startup checks.

Next, the engineer checked board transfer between machines and prepared the equipment for product trials. This work included long-board handling and the vacuum oven’s operating checks. Routine maintenance was carried out where needed before the machines moved into production testing.

The Customer’s engineers participated throughout the installation. This gave them an early understanding of the line’s layout, machine connections, and preparation steps before formal operating training began.

Teaching Printing and Placement with Actual Products

Once the equipment was ready, training moved to solder paste printing and component placement. The engineer demonstrated how to create a product program, enter board information, and adjust the settings required for production.

Placement training covered component data, feeder installation, nozzle selection, and position adjustment. The Customer’s engineers practiced creating programs for their own boards, including long-board products. The engineer reviewed their work and explained corrections directly at the machine.

As the flexible LED strip materials became available, the team applied the same skills to strip production. This helped them connect the programming steps with the boards they would manufacture each day.

Training the Team through Hands-On Practice

Training was organized around demonstration, practice, and review. After watching an operating step, the Customer’s engineers performed it themselves while the I.C.T engineer observed and answered questions.

This approach continued with the downstream LED strip equipment. The team learned the assembly sequence and practiced the soldering machine’s program setup and position adjustment. For processes requiring product-specific tooling or additional materials, the engineer explained what needed to be prepared and supplied operating videos for reference.

Daily maintenance and safe operation were included alongside machine use. The team learned how to care for the equipment, carry out routine checks, and prepare for the next production run.

LED Strip Trial Production

With the line connected and product programs prepared, I.C.T supported trial production using the Customer’s boards and materials. These trials gave the team experience with the complete SMT workflow and allowed the engineer to refine product settings under actual operating conditions.

Long-board production was completed during the visit, followed by flexible LED strip trials. The Customer’s engineers took an active role in programming and adjustment, gaining practice with tasks they would need to handle independently.

The vacuum reflow process received additional attention. The engineer reviewed printing and heating conditions with the Customer and refined the process through repeated tests. The final recorded trial met the Customer’s requirement for the observed soldering bubbles on the tested boards.

These trials also gave the team a clearer understanding of how product materials, machine settings, and operating methods affect the finished result.

Completing the Handover and Building the Team’s Confidence

By the end of the visit,  the machines listed for acceptance had completed the handover checks. The SMT line was operating, product programs had been prepared, and the Customer’s team had received practical training across the production workflow.

Two Customer engineers had mastered overall line operation. Other team members had developed printing and placement programming skills and continued to build experience with the remaining tasks. Before leaving, the I.C.T engineer reviewed their questions and made tutorial videos available for continued learning.

For the Customer, the project brought together equipment installation, product trials, and training in one on-site service. The team had working programs, experience with its own products, and reference materials to support daily operation.

Starting an LED strip production line is a big step for any team. If you are planning a similar project, share your products and production goals with I.C.T. We will work with you on a suitable equipment solution and provide practical support as your engineers learn to use it. From installation to the first production runs, your team will have someone to turn to.
