I.C.T recently completed an overseas technical support project in India for a computer motherboard manufacturer. The customer had already purchased a complete SMT and THT production line from I.C.T. To improve traceability, inspection capability, and coating process control, the customer added several new machines, including a laser marking machine, SPI, AOI, and conformal coating machine.
For this project, I.C.T sent engineer Tony to the customer factory from July 7 to July 15, 2026. His work included equipment checking, software updates, production line adjustment, machine commissioning, process training, and hands-on guidance for the local engineering team.
The customer focuses on computer products, with computer motherboards as the main production application for this project. Motherboard manufacturing requires stable SMT placement, reliable solder paste inspection, accurate AOI testing, clear board marking, and controlled protective coating.
Based on these needs, I.C.T supported the customer's existing SMT and THT line while helping integrate the newly added equipment into daily production. The project covered a laser marking machine, SPI system, DIP AOI, 3D AOI, conformal coating machine, first article inspection system, ultrasonic stencil cleaning machine, and 3D microscope support.
After arriving at the factory, Tony first checked the current line condition with the local engineers. The production line had already been installed by the local agent team, so the first step was to understand the open issues and confirm the equipment status.
He delivered spare parts and accessories, including an L-506 three-mode valve, coating machine glue tank accessories, and AOI sensors. He also began troubleshooting the laser marking Bad Mark process and trained the local engineers on how to create Bad Mark programs and SPI panel programs.
During the service, Tony worked with I.C.T software engineers remotely to solve the laser marking issue where the machine still marked panels after recognizing Bad Mark boards. After the software update, the function was tested successfully.
For SPI, he solved a language setting issue in the inspection parameters by changing the parameter names to English and updating the default configuration. For DIP AOI, he helped update the software so test data could be sent correctly to the repair station.
Since the customer needed stronger AOI programming skills for computer motherboard inspection, Tony provided repeated 3D AOI training. The training covered CAD coordinate import, resistor and capacitor programming, IC inspection setup, 2D template creation, 3D height measurement, solder climbing inspection, lifted-lead detection, missing-lead detection, special-shaped component setup, and component database management.
Local engineers practiced building AOI programs by themselves using real computer motherboard samples. This made the training more practical and helped them understand how to adjust inspection frames, build component libraries, and apply the right inspection logic for different parts.
Tony also trained the local engineer on conformal coating machine programming. The training included program copying, angle rotation for panelized boards, 180-degree panel setup, glue flow adjustment, spray valve positioning, air pressure adjustment, and coating test methods.
During testing, the team checked the customer's 1307 glue with the existing 905 valve and confirmed that the coating process could run properly.
The service also included support for related equipment in the line. Tony helped the team move and level the production line to add a conveyor between the printer and SPI. He also supported a first article inspection system by changing language settings, updating Chinese interface text, and coordinating English voice prompt updates.
At another customer factory visit in India, he checked an ultrasonic stencil cleaner drainage issue and installed a 3D microscope. These tasks helped the local team handle both new equipment and existing production support needs.
By the end of the service, the laser marking machine, SPI, AOI, and coating machine training had been completed, and key software and process issues were resolved. The local engineers gained hands-on experience in program creation, motherboard AOI inspection, coating adjustment, and line operation.
This project helped the customer improve production readiness for computer motherboard manufacturing and gave their engineering team a clearer process for daily machine use, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
The customer recognized I.C.T's practical on-site support and the professional training provided by the engineer. The service helped their team better understand the new equipment and build more confidence in operating the upgraded SMT and THT production line.
