An I.C.T technical engineer recently travelled to a customer's factory in Mexico for an on-site installation and training assignment. The scope covered two very different jobs in one visit: moving an existing DIP production line installation to a new floor, and bringing new SMT production line equipment into production. It is a typical example of what I.C.T after-sales support looks like in the field — engineers on site, working alongside the customer's own team until the line runs as intended.
The customer's two DIP lines, delivered in 2025, needed to be relocated from the first floor to the second. Moving an insertion and wave soldering line is not simply a matter of carrying machines upstairs: the I.C.T engineer planned the sequence with the customer, supervised disconnection and safe transport, then reinstalled every module on the new floor and carefully levelled each machine. Accurate levelling matters for conveyor transfer, solder pot alignment and long-term mechanical stability, so the line was checked and re-checked before handover. The customer's operators were trained on the reinstalled line during the same visit.
Alongside the relocation, the engineer carried out installation and commissioning of the SMT equipment, verifying conveyor height, board flow, and machine-to-machine communication before trial runs. Preparation for the next batch of equipment was also started on site: confirming floor positions, utility connections, and the installation schedule so that the following phase can begin without waiting. By combining commissioning with forward planning, the customer avoids the downtime that usually comes with a multi-stage line build-up.
For I.C.T, a turnkey project does not end when the machines leave the factory. Line layout planning, installation, operator training, and on-site technical support are part of the delivery, whether the customer is adding one machine or rebuilding a complete floor. With engineers available for overseas assignments, I.C.T helps manufacturers in Mexico and beyond keep their SMT and DIP lines running — and ready for the next expansion.
